After years in a beautiful log home, these customers were ready for a change. They loved the forested property and the natural light — they were done with dark interiors, small bathrooms, and the constant upkeep a wood home demands.

We followed the customers’ lead toward a modern farmhouse look: black windows and James Hardie siding outside, drywall and shiplap inside to cover the logs. In the design studio we reimagined the floor plan, eliminating unused rooms, overbuilding porches and enclosing decks to create a large custom kitchen and dining space. Removing walls meant adding headers and beams and re-working plumbing and electrical — so we planned it carefully and brought in expert subcontractors to overhaul the house from the inside out.
